The genus Carthamus consists of several species and the plants belonging to the genus contain numerous phytochemicals including phenolics, flavonoids, cartharmin, safflower yellow A, quinochalone, safflomin, cartorimine, and alkaloids. It is a botanical extract that creates an invisible barrier for skin used to lock in color.
